The most popular and practiced method by far of getting a six pack is through sit ups. Many different types of sit ups exist and have different functions on particular parts of the abs. For example, certain types of sit ups will only work the side of the six pack, while other types may only work the bottom of the muscles. The most general form is to lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. You will then sit up, bringing your head to your knees.

Another method is to split the sit up into two parts and work them separately. These are commonly referred to as crunches. Part a would be doing a sit up half way then going back down. Part b would be starting midway and crunching to the knees, then returning to the midway position once again.

It is important to remember to breathe during these exercises. Breathing supplies the necessary oxygen for the body to work. It also allows the muscles to expand and contract. This keeps us moving naturally and prevents us from cramping our muscles.

Eating correctly cannot be under estimated. Failing to do so will result in the body being deprived of essential vitamins and minerals along with proteins and carbohydrates. These substances are absolutely necessary for strenuous activities and muscle building and must be consumed regularly, especially with an exercise regiment in place.

Many people love six packs. They are generally considered to be pleasing to look at and they are great for self esteem and general physical competency. Although there are many ways of how to get a six pack, nothing beats sit ups, proper breathing and a well balanced diet.
